Part of my moving off the Facebooks et al is to find alternate modes for the sorts of communications that social media platforms facilitate. While my account at Facebook is still sort of up–I don’t monitor it. I also don’t monitor Facebook Messenger all that often. At least that is the plan.
To that end, I’ve set up an IRC room. To be sure, I don’t know how many of y’all still use IRC. And there’s probably a fair number of you who have never used it and don’t know the first damn thing about setting it up. Well, there’s the Internet if you’re a go-getter. I’m in the process of writing up some docs to link here if you’d rather have a hand-holding.
I used to hang out on IRC all the damn time. Not even sure why I stopped, but it has been a long time and the skills are a bit rusty. However, I did check and it’s relatively simple if you just want to pop in and IM yours truly. It can be a lot more complicated and, well, that’s okay too if you want to dig in.
Anyway, without further delay, you can find me in IRC on Freenode in the room #fezchat. Basically just click the link, pick a nickname and join #fezchat. See you there.
