I’m all for diversity. Seriously. No, really, I mean it. I’ve been through all of the trainings and presentations. I’ve digested this and made it part of my person.
The thing about diversity in my opinion is that it should *feel* natural. You know what feels unnatural to me? A training presentation that is obsessed with appearing to be all about diversity, like at a level that rivals what the training is supposed to be about in the first place. So far every single stock photo speaking avatar is noticeably not a white male.
It’s like they’re checking boxes. Here is what has been presented so far, in the order presented:
* South Asian female — check
* Black male — check
* White female — check
* Hispanic male — check
Girl boy girl boy.
Or, I guess in my case, it totally is distracting. Because I’m writing this comment with the presentation paused.
Oooh. Switched it up. Back to the black male stock photo!

They grow up so fast… I promised myself I wouldn’t cry… (Sniff sniff)
Ah, shucks… Thanks, dad.
